The Beach

We might be going to the beach this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it. I love the ocean, the sound of the sea, the rumble of waves and cry of gulls.

My oldest daughter wants to go sand boarding (All she needs is a board). Me, I'd rather race a horse at the water's edge, as I did when I was young.

I used to break and train horse’s way up north at Mangawhai beach. We exercised them daily, riding in all kinds of weather, through the pines and over tall white dunes out onto the beach. I’d ride like the wind, horse’s hooves clattering on wet sand, water spraying in the air and my spirit soaring.

Back then, I wasn’t a Christian, but praise God, He found me. Now, when I visit with the Lord, it’s as if He and I are beside the sea. I've even had visions of Him and me walking together on the beach.

Lord, please take me to the beach.

We live quite near the beach here in Southern California. It's about 3 miles from my home -sometimes we ride our bikes. My son is a surfer (addicted it seems). My daughter prefers her boogie board. I grew up equally as close to the beach on Long Island in New York, and I can't imagine a life away from the sea. My parents have retired to our old summerhouse, and it gives me great joy to walk the beaches of my youth.

Kim, you are blessed to live that close to the ocean. I'd love to live where I could see the sea, (as long as I lived high enough up to be safe) I grew up in Auckland City and, like you, I spent a lot of my childhood on the beach.

jel, may you get to walk by the sea and breathe the salty air. It's wonderful.

David, thank you. I shall enjoy my day very much. Take my drawing pad? lol I'll take the camera instead. That way I'll get lots of ideas to paint when I get home. I am glad you like my seascapes. :)

Walking along the beach is cool! It help us relax our mind. May the wind blow away your sadness and stress from daily work, but give you inspiration and creativity in your next drawing instead.

Enjoy and have a lovely weekend ahead!

I love the beach. I have always hoped that I could live near the beach one day so that I could walk on the beach and swim every day.

I used to drive to Scarborough Beach (in Perth) most weekends to go boogie boarding with my eldest son. When he went to Thailand to do his DTS with YWAM , that all stopped - unfortunately. I'll have to convince someone else to go with me!

    Sister,

I love to sit on the beach to watch the creations of our living God. The sand, the sea & the sunshine.

I used to wake board but Singapore is not a good place for such as we have not much waves.

Surely your family will love the beach 'outing' as Jesus's Mercy & Lovingkiness follow, everywhere we go...He is with us, through eternity with no end...

Your prayer reminds me of Footprints in the Sand...what a cool poem!

Prayer Warrior, thank you. I pray the rain stops or we might not be going, which would be a shame.

Steve, One of my dreams is to live in a cottage overlooking a quiet beach, where I can draw and write my novel's in peace.

Godwyn, I love to sit on a dune and watch the waves tossed in a storm. God's creation is so wonderful. It's points to a loving God.

Bonnie, I love "Footprints in the Sand." It's so beautiful.

Rulan - ahhhhh . .. I, too, grew up on the beach - on the east coast of Florida. Our house was a short walk down the street to the ocean. I love standing on the water's edge, looking out to sea . . . endless. We live near a lake now, but it's not the same - when you look out from the water's edge you see civilization on the other side. Just not the same.

I loved the sound of the waves, the smell of the salt air. I loved watching the moon rise over the ocean (I would have loved the sunrise, too, if I had ever got up for it :) I loved to watch the lightening storms over the ocean - what an incredible display of God's power and magnificance and beauty! Ohhhh, how I miss the beach! I live at least a very long day's drive from the nearest beach, and it's not even that pretty.
