Trust in Him
About twelve years ago, we were watching a movie on TV in which some people were climbing a rugged, snow covered mountain. They had to scale dangerous rocky cliffs and huge walls of ice. Some of the people lost their footing and fell to their deaths, while others had narrow escapes.

When the movie paused for advertisements, I shuddered and said to my family that I would never dare to go climbing like that. Having declared this, I went to the kitchen to make everyone a hot drink.

As I started to make the drinks, the Lord gave me a vision. I can see it clearly, even after all these years.

In the vision, I saw the Lord standing in midair near the face of a huge, rocky cliff. The cliff towered far above Him, and dropped so far below Him that I could scarcely see the bottom.

I was standing on a steep grassy slope, clinging desperately to a small tree just inches from the cliff. I was level with Him, but He was ten or twenty feet away from me.

The Lord held His hand out, beckoning me to let go of the tree. He wanted me to step out into nothingness and climb out along that cliff to Him.

He said, “Will you trust Me?”

Then the vision ended, but His words were imbedded into my heart.

“Will you trust Me?”

For a start, I was too fearful to let go of the things that made me feel safe, but He has never left me and as I go through life, I am learning more and more to trust Him. Each day, I take a step closer to Him.

Lovely vision...trust in Him. Reminds me of Curm's post about the end of the rope. Wow. We've all just got to take that leap of faith, don't we?

m.c. Lovely to see you. Yes, we sure do need to take that step of faith. But I for one know that more times than not, I tend to look too long a what I think the dangers are, when all along the real danger is NOT taking that step. We live and learn.
    Blessings to you.

What a powerful vision. I can picture the Lord still reaching out to you, but this time you are scaling the cliff at His side. Well done, my sister!

Pia, you are not alone in that. Many times, I to have been too stuborn or too afraid to let go. I often learn things the hard way.

I sometimes picture the Father looking down with a compassionate smile and slowly skaking His head.

The main thing is, the Lord loves us all so much, that He doesn't give up. Isn't He wonderful?

    Blessings in the Lord.

Our Lord will never leave us, nor foresake us. I hate to think where I would be right now, if not for Him.

Thank you for linking with my blog. That is so cool. I have now linked with yours as well.

    God bless.

Beautiful words, Rulan. And oh so true. I've experienced stepping out of my place of safety into the unknown -- just me and God. I've never been closer to my Creator nor grown so much nor experienced such peace.

    Wonderfully written.

    Blessings, Francine

janice, we are only human and we all get comfortable. I am only just learning to trust and have a long way to go.

The good thing is, we only need to take one step at a time.

    God bless you.

Rulan, thanks for sharing this. I'm in a situation where I have to trust God by faith totally. I had dreamt of 2 paths with "Strong Wind" ahead of me last year.

I always thought "Strong wind" means "difficulties" until one day my sister told me it could be "Blessing" ahead if it is God calling in my life. Letting go is the first step to take.

It is all about willingness to obey his calling and trusting him.

    Press on my friend.

Beautiful, wonderful post. I had a similar picture from God, once. I felt I'd stepped off the cliff to follow, but instead of landing solidly like I expected, I kept free-falling through the air--for months and months. And there was debris in the air as well, which scared me. But it never seemed to hit me in any vulnerable spot that could be truly injured. I was bruised here and there, but never really harmed. Finally, I saw that as I was falling, HE was cradling me in His arms and protecting me.

That was a few years ago. So much in our life is still not stable, but I don't feel like I'm free-falling anymore. I'm finding that my foundation is just in being in His arms so it doesn't matter as much where the ground is.

Wow. God uses you in mighty ways! I'm being called out now.

I just peeked a little, teeny, tiny bit out the the itsty, bitsy crack in the top of my box.

However, the lid is a bit too heavy for me to push open right now. I've been praying for His divine hand.

Kitty, wow thank you for your encouragement. May the Lord bless you

Paula, free-falling would be scary without the Lord to hang onto. Thanks for sharing that. It is such an encouragement. We have such an awesome loving Lord.

Godwyn Lim, cool to have you visit and thanks for the offer of emailing me when you update your blog. However, I am nervous about handing out my address until I've got to know someone well enough.
I would rather keep visiting your blog or perhaps you could leave me a comment each time you've updated? May the Lord bless you also.

Michelle, way cool. Thank you for your encouraging words. We have a mighty, loving Lord. May He bless you.

Kim, Thank you. Yes, it is terrifying to be called out like that, but the Lord is awesome. Thank you for your encouragementGod bless.

Very good post. This is along the same lines as when Jesus told Peter to come to Him on the water. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus he was fine. But when he diverted his eyes, he began to sink.

Peter took the step of faith, but didn't keep his eyes on the Lord.

Trust the Lord and never take your eyes off Him (glance at the world, gaze at the Lord) and everything will work out!

Sorry I can't come by too often but these black backgrounds give me a major headache!

Bonnie, great to have you visit. Thank you for the encouragement. Talking about Peter reminds me of another vision I had.
Sorry that the black is hard for you. Thank you so much for telling me about it. May the Lord bless you.

Oh, and I love that that post on your blog about the cat.
